While Cheslin Kolbe held onto his place on the perfect wing despite the form of both Sbu Nkosi , prop Trevor Nyakane kept his position despite question marks over his fitness.
There was not any place for Smith or even Nkosi together with Francois Louw covering Jesse Kriel the back three and the row.
The centres will be covered by the flexible 32-year-old Frans Steyn and behave as together with Elton Jantjies despite beginning evaluations against Australia and Argentina in the number 10 shirt this year, missing out altogether.
